Privacy policy

Ornamentry is a desktop app for Windows. It runs on your PC, has no accounts, shows no ads and contains no analytics or tracking SDKs. We don't sell or share data with anyone. This page lists everything the app sends over the network and everything it keeps.

What leaves your PC

• The gallery. When you browse or download widgets, wallpapers or themes, the app contacts api.ornamentry.com and dl.ornamentry.com. Each request carries the app version and a random install ID that the app creates the first time it runs. The ID isn't linked to your name, email, Microsoft account or hardware. Our server keeps only a keyed hash of it, used to count downloads and daily active installs. We don't store IP addresses or browser details in our database.
• Update checks. Only in the version downloaded from ornamentry.com: once a day the app fetches dl.ornamentry.com/update/stable.json with the same install ID. The Microsoft Store version doesn't do this, because the Store updates it.
• Weather widgets. If you add one, the city you type is sent to Open-Meteo to find its coordinates and fetch the forecast. Open-Meteo is a free weather service; no install ID is sent to it.
• Widgets that load web content. Some widgets, including imported .rmskin skins, fetch pages or feeds that the widget's author chose. Those requests go straight to those websites, whose own privacy policies apply. Ornamentry never runs programs that come inside a skin package.

Our servers run on Cloudflare, which briefly processes connection data such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the service, as any web host does. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

This website

ornamentry.com uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. It sets cookies and sends Google your browser details and approximate location. The app itself has no analytics. You can block it with any content blocker or Google's opt-out add-on.

What stays on your PC

Your settings, widgets, snapshots for one-click undo, downloaded items and the install ID are stored locally, in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Ornamentry (or the app's own package folder for the Microsoft Store version). The "Now Playing" widget reads the current track from Windows, and system widgets read CPU, memory, disk and network usage. That information is shown on your desktop and never sent anywhere.

Uninstalling the Microsoft Store version removes all of this data. For the downloaded version, delete the folder above after uninstalling.

What we never collect

Names, email addresses, contacts, files, browsing history, keystrokes, precise location, screenshots or crash dumps. The app doesn't ask for your location; weather uses only the city you type.

Children

Ornamentry collects no personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes

If what the app sends ever changes, this page will be updated before that version is released, and the date at the top will change.
